We love the daily walks around the lake…
About November 2015, Barry and I decided it was time to downsize and we looked at several retirement villages in Sydney. We had a wish list and thought that we would be better off by leaving Sydney and move a little north to an area of less hustle and bustle.
We found Wangi Wangi and the beautiful Wangi Shores on the shores of the stunning Lake Macquarie, only an hour and a half from Sydney. Wangi Shores was seen to be a retirement village that ticked most of the boxes on our wish list and was reasonably priced. A villa became available and in March 2016, we were proud to become a resident.
The village’s main appeal was its close proximity to the beautiful Lake Macquarie, being only 30 metres off the foreshore, together with the views over the ever-changing lake to Belmont, the mild climate, the beautiful established well-cared for gardens, the positive management attitude and the spaciousness of the villas. With the newly-completed community centre, outdoor swimming pool and heated spa and barbeque area, we are very happy with the makeup of the village. These new spacious amenities are certainly a plus and add a new dimension to our way of life.
We love the daily walks around the lake which is a nature reserve in itself with all the birds in residence and it is always a meet and greet with the friendly locals. The birds also come to meet and greet us on our balcony on many occasions.
We have never regretted our move to spend the remainder of our interesting and varied life at Wangi Shores Over 55’s Retirement Village.
